Beginning Monday, November 5th, Alterra will present "Beethoven on Brew," a classical music series featuring members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. This monthly series takes place on the first Monday of every month through June 2nd at seven of our cafes. Each performance begins at 7pm and is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
Join us in celebrating Milwaukee Fair Trade Day on Monday, October 15th, from noon to 2pm in the Milwaukee City Hall Rotunda! The program will include presentations by Pam Mehnert of Outpost Natural Foods, Alderman Tony Zielinski, and Mayor Tom Barrett. There will also be a keynote address from Paul Rice, the founding president and CEO of TransFair USA, the only third-party Fair Trade certifying agency in the U.S.
Over a dozen local providers of Fair Trade products - including Alterra - will be on hand to give away samples of chocolate, tea, coffee, and other treats. We hope to see you there!

Filmmaker Brad Lichtenstein of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Film Department has opened docUquarium - his fall class on contemporary independent documentaries - to the public, and Alterra is thrilled to be a co-sponsor of this cutting-edge film series!
Each Wednesday evening between September 5th and December 5th, a free screening will take place at the UWM Union Theatre, located at 2200 E. Kenwood Boulevard. The films begin at 7:30pm and are preceded by a brief lecture starting at 7pm. Afterwards, attendees are invited to engage in talk-back sessions - many will feature the director of that evening's films - to dive even deeper into docUquarium.
Alterra will host the following "Coffee with the Filmmakers" sessions at our Prospect Avenue café, located at 2211 N. Prospect Avenue. Grab a cup of coffee and chat with the directors, producers, and interviewees.

Join us on Monday evening, August 27th (rain date: August 29th) at 8pm for a free screening of the acclaimed documentary "Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars". Alterra at the Lake will host this outdoor event in collaboration with the Pabst Theater, Milwaukee International Film Festival, Rosebud Cinema Drafthouse, and the Milwaukee Peace Corps Association.
The film, which was shown at the 2006 Milwaukee International Film Festival, tells the inspiring story of the Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars. The group is scheduled to perform at the Pabst Theater on Wednesday, September 5th at 8pm.
